VIRGINIA DIVISION ATTENDS 54th ANNUAL GENERAL CONVENTION
IN FREDERICKSBURG

Virginia Division, Children of the Confederacy, hosted the 54th Annual General Convention in Fredericksburg, Virginia, July 24 through 26. We would like to thank everyone who assisted in making the event such a great success. The many new members, current members, CofC Alumni, and supporters who were in attendance had a great time!

Miss Courtney Brown, Past President of Virginia Division CofC and a member of Elizabeth Curtis Wallace #830, was elected Honorary President of General. Congratulations, Courtney!

Virginia Division President Will Myers presents President General Rebecca Widowski with a framed reproduction of the charter for the first CofC Chapter in the country (Mary Custis Lee in Alexandria). The charter will hang in the CofC Room in the Memorial Building.

Mr. William Myers, Past President of Virginia Division CofC and a member of Belle Boyd #516, served as CofC Convention Chairman and was elected Second Vice President General. Congratulations, Will!!

We brought home many awards after a very successful CofC year. Thank you to everyone for making Virginia Division CofC the wonderful organization it is!

DIVISION AWARDS

  • Anna Flag Harvey Loving Cup—Awarded to the Division Director registering the greatest number of members on a percentage basis.
  • Stainless Banner—Awarded to the Director of a Division with membership of 200 or more registering the greatest number of lineal descendants.
  • Fannie Tarver Tray—awarded to the Division Director sending in the most perfect applications papers.
  • Jane Teate Vase—awarded to the Division Director registering the most boys during the year.
  • Jane Taylor Award—Awarded to the Division with the greatest net increase in membership.
  • Amanda Kate Taylor Award—awarded to the Division contributing the most money to the General Fund
  • Mrs. Harvey D. Allen Award—awarded to the Division purchasing the most Catechisms
  • David duTilliux Eschenfelder Certificate of Merit—awarded in appreciation to the Division hosting the current General Convention.
  • Lizzie Grace Dedmon Award—to the Division having the most new members attending their first General Convention
  • CofC Alumni Award—Awarded to the Division or CWND having the greatest number of CofC Alumni at the General Convention
  • Louisiana First President General Tracy—awarded to the Division having the most informative newsletter during the year.

CHAPTER AWARDS

  • Mrs. Levy C. Renfroe Silver Tray- awarded to the Chapter donating the most money to the General Scholarship Fund on a percentage basis—Liberty Hall Volunteers #941
  • John C. Chappell Award—awarded to the chapter having the largest attendance on a percentage basis at its Division Convention–—Belle Boyd #516
