2001-2002The 47th Annual General Convention of the Children of the Confederacy was held July 12-14, 2001, at the Williamsburg Hospitality House in Williamsburg, Virginia. Virginia Division had the honor of hosting this year's gathering, which included the following highlights:
- A Welcome and Historical Evening musical performance by Southern Horizon (whose members were afterwards presented with Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medals for their work in preserving and promoting the music of the Confederacy)
- A rousing Welcome and Historical Evening presentation by Virginia War Museum Director John Quarstein about how the Confederate ironclad the C.S.S. Virginia changed the face of naval warfare forever
- A CofC alumni luncheon held in the William and Mary Alumni House featuring David M. Smith of the Cincinnati Civil War Round Table speaking on the postwar careers of Confederate generals
- A guided bus trip to Fort Monroe to see the Casemate, where Confederate President Jefferson Davis was imprisoned following the conclusion of the War
- A tour of Lee Hall Mansion, which served as headquarters for Confederate Generals Joseph E. Johnston and John Bankhead Magruder during the Peninsula Campaign, followed by a picnic lunch on the lawn
- A late-night Ghost Walk through Colonial Williamsburg
- Presentations by Virginia Division SCV Commander Henry Kidd on his historical artwork and Virginia Division UDC member Billie Earnest on the life and times of LaSalle Corbell Pickett, widow of General George Edward Pickett
- A Saturday night banquet and ball in honor of the Old Dominion State
