HONORARY ASSOCIATE CofC MEMBER KEEPS ON TRUCKING

NASCAR may be all the rage in some places, but if you ask members of Virginia Division CofC what's the hottest vehicle on the road these days, they're likely to tell you it's their friend John's pick-up truck.
It looks just like any other dark-colored truck cruising the highways of the Old Dominion, but you won't have any trouble recognizing it when you see it. It's the one with the license plates that read C OF C.
A long-time supporter of Virginia Division CofC, John Lougheed purchased the tags shortly after the Children recognized his contributions to the CofC by making him their first-ever Honorary Associate Member at their June convention.

A retired Marine who served in Vietnam, Lougheed had gone to the Department of Motor Vehicles at the urging of his wife Sam, Vice President of Virginia Division UDC, to purchase Vietnam Veteran tags for his truck. Although he had not originally planned on personalizing the plates, he nevertheless found himself asking the window clerk if C OF C was available. When told that it was, Lougheed seized the moment and ordered the plates.
The tags on Lougheed's truck now identify him not only as an armed forces veteran who served his country overseas but also as a member of another equally select company: an Honorary Associate Member of the Children of the Confederacy. Virginia's Children are proud to call him their own.
